Mrs. Betty A. Reynolds
Mother Betty A. King Reynolds entered into the arms of Jesus on May 31st, 2020 in Hephzibah, Georgia after an extended illness. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Elder Robert Spencer will officiate.
Mother Reynolds was born on December 23, 1947 to the parentage of Mr. Willie D. King and Mrs. Janie Robinson King. She was the third of eight children.
Mother Reynolds was a lifelong member of St. John Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.) in Tennille, Georgia. From 1993 until 2008, she served as First Lady of Irwinton District C.O.G.I.C. and the First Lady of Reynolds Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Irwinton, Georgia during the tenure of her husband, the late Superintendent Joe E. Reynolds. After returning to St. John C.O.G.I.C. in 2008, Mother Reynolds served as Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher, Bible Band Teacher, Praise and Worship Leader, along with being a member of the Mother Board. Mother Reynolds was very active in the Tennille District of the C.O.G.I.C. as a Leadership Trainer, Praise and Worship Leader and the District Women’s Department. Mother Reynolds loved the Lord and always encouraged saints in her worship.
She attended the public schools of Washington County and was a 1965 Honor Graduate of T.J. Elder High School. Mother Reynolds was employed at the Washington County Manufacturing Company and the William Carter Company. In 1993 Mother Reynolds married Superintendent Joe E. Reynolds & they were married for 15 glorious years.
Mother Reynolds was preceded in death by her father Mr. Willie D. King, brother Mr. Ronald Wright and her husband Superintendent Joe E. Reynolds.
She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted son, Corey King and his wife April, Sandersville GA; two devoted daughters Kimberly (Solomon) Odii, Austin, Texas and Brittany (Audrey) Averitte, Hephzibah, GA; her Mother Mrs. Janie King and three sisters: Zora L. Asberry, Gloria Poole and cousin/sister Rebertha (Samuel) Andrews, all of Tennille, GA; three brothers: Arcephus (Willie Mae) King, Wadley, GA, Thasten King, Deepstep, GA and William Damien King, Detroit, Michigan; one aunt Mrs. Annie M. Jones, Canton, OH; Seven grandchildren, Kayla King, Kelcie King, Dylan King, Jordan Folsom, Kaeden King, Aiden King-Averitte, and Addisyn King; 17 nieces including devoted nieces Regina and Katina Asberry; 6 nephews including devoted nephews Gerald (Kosher) Asberry, Jason (Kenya) Poole, and William (Andrea) Keith; Special friends: Mother Ella Mae Thomas a devoted friend and Cassandra Dennis and family for considering Mother Reynolds as their own family. A special grandchild, Crystal Danielle Scott, with whom she had a special bond and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family is receiving friends at the home of her son, Corey King, 641 Woodland Drive, Sandersville.
