Mrs. Nina L. Dudley

Mrs. Nina L. Dudley entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Washington County Regional Medical Center.  Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at Swint Spring Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Murray officiating.  Interment will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, Georgia.

 

Nina Lee Swint Dudley was born February 26, 1939 to the late Bradford and Annie Bell Dawson Swint in Washington County, Sandersville, Georgia.  She was the twelfth of 14 children born to this family.  She was educated in the public school system of Washington County, graduated from Thomas Jefferson Elder High School in the class of "1952".  She attended Savannah State College.

 

Nina joined Swint Spring Baptist Church at an early age.  Upon  relocating to Brooklyn New York, she joined Mt. Ararat Baptist Church.  She met and married the love of her life Edward "Eddie" Dudley on January 22, 1960.  They were married for 59 years and to that union are two daughters.

 

She relocated to Richmond Hill, New York and there joined Community Baptist Church where she was an active member, serving as Secretary of that Church until she relocated back to Washington County.

 

Nina worked in the Garment District for several years before joining the City of New York.  She worked in the Human Resources Department before retiring in 1989. 

 

Upon retirement, she returned to her home roots in Sandersville, Georgia.  She rejoined Swint Spring Baptist Church where she served and was Secretary until her passing.  She worked as a Substitute Teacher for the Washington County School System and as an Aide for the Washington County Senior Center. 

 

Nina loved her family very much and was a people person, she never met a stranger.  She loved her church, shopping, flowers and entertaining. 

 

Nina always made sure her family ate and if you were in the house at dinner time, you were family and you had to eat too. 


She was preceded in death by her sisters:  Mary Swint, Fannie Manning, Ella Pearl Curtis, Dessie Jones and Clara Swint (Sis); brothers:  Johnnie B. Swint, Clinton Swint, Lun Swint and Alton Swint.

 

Nina leaves behind to carry on her legacy her husband Edward Dudley; two daughters:  Erica Dudley and Desma "Shawn" Williams; 5 grandchildren: Russell (Jr) Dudley, Octavia (TaTa) Dudley, Kaylin (Pippi) Dudley, Jasper (JJ) Williams, Tyler (Tylenol) Williams, 4 great grandchildren: Jaylin (J-man) Bradley, Sidney (Pooh) Dudley, Jesiah (King) Brown and Kaison Williams; 2 brothers:  Jesse (Sally) Swint and Richard Swint; 2 sisters-in-law:  Mildred Swint and Joan Swint.

 

Honorable mention:  June Bell, Clara Swint, Betty Jean Swint, Renee Swint, Russell Frazier, Marion Swint, Rameeka Swint Askew, Launa Bellamy and Maxine Rouse.
