On September 28, 2019, Jesus sent his angels down to University Hospital in Augusta, GA, Ms. Jessie Mae Griner, heard the voice of Jesus say, "Well Done" thou good and faithful servant, come unto me and rest, your wings are ready for you to enter into the joy of thy Lord, and she peacefully transitioned to her Heavenly home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 1 p.m. at St. Galilee Baptist Church with Rev. Manzie Broxton officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church cemetery in Warthen.
Ms. Jessie Mae Griner was born July 14, 1934, in Washington County, GA to the parentage of the late Mr. Albert Maze, Sr. and the late Mrs. Emma Mae Griner. She was educated in the Washington County School System.
Ms. Griner was a very hardworking woman, she worked most of her life as a cook at Rawlings Nursing Home and later cared for her grandchildren while her children worked.
At an early age she joined St. Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in the Tybee Community.
Ms. Griner was proceeded in death by three sisters: Lela Mae Griner, Joann Maze Thompson, Shirley Davis; four brothers: Albert May, Robert Harris Jr., Willie Maze, Richard Maze; two grandsons: Quenterious Griner, Brian Johnson and stepmother, Kattie Bell Maze.
Ms. Griner leaves to cherish her previous memories four daughters, Belinda Haynes-Ingram, Tennille, GA, Merolyn Griner-Pearson, Rosa Hall, Mary Griner, Sandersville, GA; four sons, Willie James Griner, Melvin (Patricia) Griner, Stevie (Moddie) Griner, Sandersville, GA, Anthony Griner, Atlanta, GA; four sisters, Iola Latimer, Katie Maze, Edna Daniel, Glenda Smith, Sandersville, GA; two brothers, J.C. (Daisy) Maze, Curtis Maze, Sandersville, GA; sister-in-law, Alma Jean May, Sandersville, GA; 14 grandchildren, Frank (Calesha) Griner, Angelica (Allorenza) Griner-Bell, Sandy Griner, Shanika Evans-Walton, Kasheena Griner, Yontia (Rodrick) Brookins, Crystal Griner, Melvin Evans, Reginald Griner, Shakeyia (Chris) Rogers, Anthony Wilder, Christopher Griner, Kashedra Griner, JaMario Dixon; 33 great-grandchildren; devoted caregiver, Jeannette Kelsey; devoted friends Deacons and Deaconess William & Virginia Jackson, Joann Simmons; a host of loving stepchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
