Thelma (Veal) Ford, age 88 of J & S Veal Road, passed away Saturday April 20, 2019 of natural causes at Heritage Inn of Sandersville, Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 12 noon in the Chapel of L.M. Pierce Funeral Home with interment in the Veal Family Cemetery in Deepstep, Georgia. Rev. Jerry Dudley will officiate.
Thelma was born April 17, 1931 in Deepstep, Georgia to Sallie Louise Scott and James Thomas Veal. She was the middle of nine siblings. Thelma was educated in Washington County, Georgia. She moved to Detroit, Michigan as a young woman where she met and married Robert Chism Ford (RC). They made a home and raised a family.
Thelma's husband, Robert C. Ford and 2 children, Willie Jamil Ford (Hassanah) and Robert Ford, Jr. (Bobby), preceded her in death.
She was always patient, kind loving and spent most of her life caring for others. She loved gardening. Her yard is filled with beautiful flowers and she enjoyed cooking with the fruits of her garden. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting as well as reading. She instilled these passions in all of her children.
She is survived by her three children: Karlest Ford (Nancy), Connie Ford-Washington and Teresa Ford-Leach (Frank); two brothers: Harry Jonas Veal (LaVada), Robert Veal (Winston); three sisters: Martha Scott, Eugenia Cummings, Mary Blanche Ford as well as 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family whom she cherished.
