Mr. Charlie Haynes

On Friday, October 13, 2017, Mr. Charlie Haynes of Solomon Place passed  away at the VA Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Bold Spring Baptist Church with interment in the church's cemetery.  Rev. Lindra Fleming will officiate.   

 

Mr. Haynes was born January 18, 1931 to the late Mrs. Mary Lillian Poole Haynes and the late Mr. Charlie "Gus" Haynes.   Mr. Haynes attended public schools in Washington County, Georgia.  Mr. Haynes was a member of the American Legion.  He was a gold card member of the St. Andrew Lodge #32 of Sandersville and life member of Stolkin Temple #22 of Augusta, Georgia. 

 

 

Mr. Haynes loved being outside and enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on puzzles and taking walks.

 

Mr. Haynes was united in holy matrimony to Ms. Juanita Jordon on June 3, 1955.  They are the parents of six children.  Mrs. Juanita Jordan Haynes preceded Mr. Haynes in death.  He was also preceded in death by two sons, Mr. Derek Jordan and Mr. Donald Jordan; two brothers, Mr. Robert Haynes and Mr. Ralph Poole.

 

Mr. Charlie Haynes was an U.S. Army veteran and towards the end of the Korean War served as a Medical Technician.  Mr. Haynes was stationed  at a hospital in Okinawa.  After completing his military service  Mr. Haynes attended vocational school for auto mechanics,  brick masonry and plastering.  Mr. Haynes worked as an auto mechanic specializing in motors.

 

Mr. Haynes leaves to cherish his memories:  three sons, Michael (Elizabeth) Haynes of Augusta, GA, Ronald Haynes of Fayetteville, NC, and Charlie Griffin of Albany, GA; four daughters:  Venita Diane Haynes McCord, Sandra Lynn Haynes, Charlene Haynes Merriweather all of Augusta, GA and Karen Griffin of Pennsylvania; four sisters:  Willie Mae Haynes of Sandersville, GA, Annie Pearl Haynes of Philadelphia, PA, Mary D. Haynes and Annie Cora Haynes of East Orange, NJ; one brother, John C. Poole of Augusta, GA; four sisters-in-law:  Pauline Haynes of War then, GA, Christine Reeves of College Park, GA, Doris Smith of Conyers, GA and Mildred H. Blackmon of Sandersville, GA; one brother-in-law, James Jordan, Jr. 

 

Mr. Haynes also leaves to cherish his memories 29 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; god daughters, Camilla S. Craft, Latish A. Brown and Kandayse J. Craft; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including Diana Washington a devoted friend.
