Mrs. Eva Lene Jackson

On Tuesday, September 19, 2017, Mrs. Eva Lene Jackson was called home to be with the Lord at her residence.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Oconee, Georgia at 1 p.m. with Rev. Eddie D. Smith officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  

 

Mrs. Eva Lene Jackson was born October 28, 1941 to the late Mrs. George Ann Barnes May and the late Mr. Will May of Washington County, Georgia. 

 

At an early age, Mrs. Eva Jackson was educated at (Bomb) Gardner's School under the leadership of Mr. Radford and later  the Thomas Jefferson School .  She attended the New Hope Hodges Hill.

 

Mrs. Eva L. Jackson was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Hyman Jackson.  This union was bless with six children; three preceded her in death - Frankie, Shirley Ann and Betty.

 

Mrs. Eva Jackson understood her calling from the Lord and dedicated her life to serving others and helping others no matter what the situation.  She used her talents by cooking for her neighbors especially her pear tarts.  She always cooked for the late Mr. Eddie Lee Burden, Sr. and his wife, Mrs. Marie and Elnora their daughter.  She was a homemaker to comfort those in need, and assist others her entire life.  She was a faithful member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church until her  health failed.  Eva was employed with Central State Hospital for 25 years of service.

 

Eva was preceded in death by her sister:  Mrs. Velma Grady, Mrs. Mamie Geneva Pinkston; brothers:  Mr. Henry May, Mr. Sammie (Tobe) May, Mr. Willie Lee May. and Mr. Elliott May.

 

Eva leaves to cherish her memories three devoted daughters:  Ms. Sarah Jackson, Mrs. Earnestine (Jammie) Benefield, and Ms. Doris Jackson; two brothers:  Mr. Morris (Margaret) May of Milledgeville, GA and Mr. Johnnie (Josephine) May of Oconee, GA; sisters-in-law:  Mrs. Gwendolyn May of Irwinton, GA, Mrs. Laura Brookins of Albany, GA, Ms. Louise Martin, Ms. Suzzette Presley of Philadelphia, PA; brothers-in-law:  Mr. Thomas Jackson of Oconee, GA; devoted grandchildren:   Desi Jackson,  Amanda Jackson, Deann Michelle Jackson, Davieon Jackson, Yolanda Jones, Topekia Jackson; devoted great grand:  Christina Jackson, Kenna Gilmore, Christopher Fisher; one devoted great great grandchild:  Jay'anna M. Jackson; God children:  Mary Harden & Kierra Harden of Tennille, GA, Cynthia Evans - Warner Robins, GA, Mr. & Mrs. Larry & Sharon Burden of Tennille, GA; devoted families/friends:   the Cheeves  Family, the Gordy Family, the  Adams Family, the Burden Family, the Hurst Family, the Carswell Family, the Harris Family, the Sheppard Family, the Godfrey Family, the Hodges (Regina) Family, the Hill Family, the  Trawick Family;  the Jackson Family, Connie Winkfield, and James Johnson; other relatives and friends.
