Mr. Marion Hurst Sr. was the only son of Eula Hurst and Sunnie Darrisaw Hurst Boyer who both preceded him in death. He was born April 12, 1922 in Wrightsville, Georgia.
Mr. Hurst departed this life on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Oconee Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Oconee, Georgia.
He attended the public school of Washington County, Georgia. At an early age, he joined Union Hill Baptist Church. He was married to Lee Alice Burnett Hurst at an early age and to this union, they had seven children.
Marion was employed at the Georgia Department of Transportation on August 1, 1974 and retired at the age of 70 on January 1, 1992. After a hard day of work, he loved to get home and feed his cows and hogs. He also enjoyed watching television, wrestling, Walker Texas Ranger and the Atlanta Braves.
Marion was preceded in death by wife Lee Alice Burnett Hurst, a daughter Winnie L. Bell, sister Alma H. Cason and a granddaughter Bertha Bell Hammett.
Mr. Marion Hurst Sr. was known as "Daddy" to his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
Marion Hurst Sr. is survived by his children: Marion Hurst Jr. (Irma) of Detroit, Michigan; Eula Hurst (Annie), Claudia Dixon (Tommie) both of Tennille, Georgia; Brenda Faye Hurst of Atlanta, Georgia; Willie Hurst of Milledgeville, Georgia; Mary Hill (Joe) of Haddock, Georgia; Carolyn Williams (Rayford) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; three sisters: Eula Mae Bell, Willie Ruth Merrell and Susie Brown all of Tennille, Georgia; one aunt Odessa Kellam-Thomas of Miami, Florida; twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, nine great-great grand- children; two devoted son-in-laws Tommie Dixon and Joe Hill; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
