Mr. Sammy Lee "Blue" Curry departed his life on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016, 2 p.m. at Georgia Grove Baptist Church in Tennille, Georgia with interment in the church's cemetery. Rev. Roy Grissom will officiate.
Sammy was born October 12, 1953 in Washington County to the parentage of Doretha Bell and the late Matthew Curry.
"Blue", as he was affectionately known, attended T.J. Elder High School. He was employed by the Washington County Machine Shop for over 25 years until his health failed. He was a member of Georgia Grove Baptist Church.
Sammy is survived by his wife, Betty Wynn Curry; his children: LaTony Warthen and Verneka Dudley of Sandersville, GA, Samuel Curry and Zachariah Wynn of Louisville, GA; his mother, Doretha Bell of Tennille, GA; grandchildren: Akeelah Warthen, Keyonna Dudley, Keamber Paulhill and Kewan Dudley of Sandersville; six sisters: Ellaree Jones, Virgie Tucker and Dorothy (Willie James) Kitchens of Tennille, GA, Hattie Pearl (Johnny) Miller, Annie (Tremayne) Smith and Ann Minor of Sandersville, GA; three brothers: John Allen Curry, Calvin (Vernida) Curry of Tennille, GA, Arthur (Katherine) Curry of Sandersville, GA; three aunts: Helen Miller, Hattie Brown of Sandersville, GA and Maude Thornton of Atlanta, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends including five devoted friends: Edward Gilmore, Sammy Watts, Sylvester Hooks, Joe Louis Armstrong and Milton Toliver.
