Mrs. Doris Thomas passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Washington County Regional Medical Center in Sandersville, Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Holly Spring Baptist Church in Warthen, Georgia with interment in the Rest Haven cemetery.
Mrs. Doris Thomas was born on June 14, 1933, in Tennille, Georgia, to the late Arthur Roberson and the late Lillie Mae Peacock. She was reared in Tennille, Georgia, by her mother and late step-father, Charlie Braddy. She entered holy matrimony with Solomon Thomas, who preceded her in death, and became a member of the Holly Spring Baptist Church, Warthen, Georgia.
She was a gifted seamstress and loved to cook and care for her friends and family. She was a consummate fashionista who loved to clearance shop for bargains. During her spare time, she could be found watching westerns, wrestling, and Walker Texas Ranger. Most importantly, she was a devoted mother, stepmother, grandmother, great grandmother, great, great grandmother, friend, and neighbor.
Doris’ precious memories will be cherished by her daughters, Mrs. Bernice (Arthur) Walker of Sandersville, Georgia, Mrs. Barbara (Daniel) Reeves of Fort Washington, Maryland, and Ms. Charmaine Thomas of Sandersville, Georgia; a stepdaughter, Ms. Marjorie Jones of Sandersville, Georgia; Brother, Mr. Arthur Brinson of Tennille, Georgia; Grandchildren: Mr. Darrell Reeves, Sr., Ms. Shonda Reeves, Mr. Sedric (Chatrice) Reeves, Mrs. Michon (James) Lunsford; Mr. Byron Walker; Mr. Javonta Moore; Mrs. Cheryl (Alan) Bordeaux; Mr. Calvin Hunter, and Mr. Anthony Hunter; Great grandchildren: Mr. Stephen Reeves, Ms. Zynea Reeves, Mr. Darrell Reeves, Jr., Ms. Janisya Reeves, Ms. Shanelle Reeves, Mr. Donovan Chandler-Reeves, Ms. Chyna Reeves, Mr. Khaden Walker, Mr. Renard Reeves, Mr. Sedric Reeves, Jr., Mr. Caiden Reeves, Ms. Janay Bordeaux, Mr. Jared Bordeaux, Ms. Chloe Hunter, and Ms. Breanna Hunter; Great, great grandchildren: Baley Chandler and Aryielle Reeves; Devoted cousins: Miller Peacock and Ulysses Smith; Devoted friend and neighbor: Dorothy Hatcher; a host of other relatives, friends, and a devoted caregiver: Mrs. Annie Kate Jackson.
NOTE: The body will be placed in the church at 9 a.m. until the hour of the service; no viewing after the eulogy. The Family Repast will be at The Family Retreat Center immediately after the committal.
