Ms. Gloria Y. Taylor Hood entered eternal rest on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 1 p.m. from the Sandersville City Cemetery with Rev. Perry Davis officiating.
She was born August 7, 1943 in Washington County to the parentage of the late Austin Taylor, Sr. and the late Pinkie D. Ransom Taylor Harden.
She attended the schools of Washington County. She moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for many years after which she returned back to Sandersville to care for her mother. She was a faithful member of Poplar Spring Baptist Church where she served as an usher until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Ms. Katherine Strozier, Mrs. Mattie Jordan, Mr. Andrew Taylor, Mr. Austin Taylor, Jr. and Mrs. Sarah Solomon.
Ms. Hood leaves cherished memories to, her son, Alex Hood of Independence, Missouri and daughter, Sonia Hood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren: Tiffany Hood, Quinton Hood, Kanishia Hood, Oceana Martin Hood, Kayla Hood and Kourtney Lennon; eight great grandchildren: Shaniah Cole, Triniti Blidgen, Tasani Blidgen, Thaddaeus Hood, Annijah King, Anniyah Rowland, Aryonna Rowland, and Alonna Rowland; one brother: Mr. Oscar Taylor, Atlanta, Georgia; one sister: Ms. Dorothy Singleton, Atlanta, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews including Dorothy (George) Tucker & family, Frank Hatcher & family, the Jordan Family, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 12 noon to 5 p.m. in the Clara-Minnie Memorial Chapel inside L.M. Pierce Funeral Home.
