Mrs. Verdis Jones

Mrs. Verdis Jones departed this life on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Oconee Health and Rehabilitation Center in Oconee, Georgia.  Funeral services held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Green Grove Baptist Church in Sandersville, Georgia at 12 noon with interment in the church cemetery.  Rev. Paul Robinson officiated.  

Mrs. Verdis Martin Jones was born on April 8, 1926 in Washington County, Georgia to the late proud parents Mr. Archie Martin and Adell Bloodsaw Martin.  She was preceded in death by son:  Baby Jones; brothers:  Jimmie Lee Martin, Archie Lee Martin, Julius Martin, Charles Andrews and sister:  Sarah Cannida. 

She was educated at T.J. Elder High School of Sandersville, Georgia.  Verdis joined Green Grove Baptist Church as a young girl, where she faithfully served God.  On September 5, 1959, she was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life and best friend, Mr. Thomas J. Jones.  The union brought forth two sons. 

Mrs. Jones leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 55 years, Mr. Thomas J. Jones; two sons: Mr. Julius (Janet) Jones of Sandersville, GA and Mr. John T. (Carolyn) Jones, III of Atlanta, GA; grandsons:  David M. Jones of Valdosta, GA; John T. Jones, IV of Atlanta, GA; Keith Bracks of Orlando, FL, Amador Williams of Atlanta, GA;  granddaughters:  Brittany L. Jones of Atlanta, GA; Jakira T. Jones of Biloxi, MS, and Raven Williams of Atlanta, GA;  seven beloved sisters-in-law, three beloved brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. 

Her life was full of joy and love, as she danced to God’s drum.  Touching many she met as she strolled across the red carpet of life.
