Mrs. Margie Tanner Obituary

Mrs. Margie Carswell Tanner ascended to her heavenly home on July 3, 2015 from Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July11, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Union Hill Baptist Church in Tennille, Georgia with interment in the Union Hill Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Tanner was born on September 11, 1948 to the late Mr. Arthur Carswell and Mrs. Mary M. Hagan Carswell in Washington County. She was educated in Washington County Public Schools, graduating from T.J. Elder High School in 1968. Margie further her education and became a Licensed Practice Nurse. She was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church.

Margie worked as a LPN for several years in Washigton and surrounding counties until she retired from the Washington County Regional Medical Center. She also worked at VA Hospital in Dublin, Dublin Aire Nursing Home, Oconee Rehabilitation and Wrightsville Manor in Wrightsville, Georgia. She worked part-time for many years at L.M. Pierce Funeral Home. At the time of her death, she was employed by Tom and Angela Helton.

One sister and two brothers preceded her in death: Susie Gordy, Melvin Carswell and Arthur Carswell, Jr. She was also preceded in death by a niece Linda Thomas.

Her cheerfulness blessed our lives in many ways. She encouraged all to have faith, hope and confidence in God. Her legacy will forever be remembered and exemplified by her loving and devoted family. Her memory shall be cherished by the lives she touched and loved: two sons: Troy Tanner (Stone Mountain, GA) and Arthur Onix Carswell (Tennille, GA); one granddaughter: Candice Breante Johnson (Tennille, GA); two great grandchildren: Kadie Solage Gibbons and Kobe Eli Johnson (Tenille, GA); one sister: Ollie McBride (Los Angeles,CA); four brothers: Lennon Carswell (Tennille, GA), Willie Carswell (Warthen, GA), Marion Carswell (Oakland, CA) and Jimmy Carswell, (Detroit, MI); several nephews and nieces including Carol Francis and Lisa McBride (Los Angeles, CA); a dear and devoted friend: Rebertha Andrews (Tennille, GA); special cousins: Jessie Hagans, Bernice Hagan Jones, Tommie Hagans, Jr. and Alisa Green; special friends: Sharon & Larry Burden, Dianne Wright, Mary Lizzie Wright, Betty Burnette, Tom & Angela Helton, and Marsha Hutcheson.
