Leonia James, of Midway, Georgia entered into eternal rest at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, Georgia on Friday, July 30, 2015.
Leonia was born on November 27, 1938 to the late Mr. & Mrs. Lee Dixon in Sandersville, Georgia. After moving to Liberty County she became a member of Community Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Usher Board.
Leonia had a great love of flowers and cooking. For 49 years she was devoted and dedicated wife and homemaker. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted husband, Dan James, Jr. of Midway, Georgia; stepdaughter, Patricia (Nathaniel) Green of Darien, Georgia, a devoted niece, Dellar Ann (Odell) Thomas of Hephzibah, Georgia; a devoted nephew, Willie Clyde (Carrol) Lattimore of Ludowici, Georgia; two special grandnieces, Latasha Thomas of Hephzibah, Georgia and Imani (Steven) Tarpley of Midway, Georgia; two sister-in-laws, Mary Kate Dixon of Tennille, Georgia, Gloria Williams of Midway, Georgia; six brother-in-laws, George (Doretha) James of Syracuse, New York, William (Agnes) James of Decatur, Georgia, Jimmy L. James of Saluda, South Carolina, David (Justine) James of New York City, New York, John James of Phoenix, Arizona, and Terrance James of Hinesville, Georgia; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and many very special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation: Friday, August 7, 2015, 1 p.m-5 p.m. at Dorchester Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Community Missionary Baptist Church in Midway, Georgia. Reverend Dr. Stanley E. Brown will be the eulogist.
Interment will be in Midway First Presbyterian Church in Midway, Georgia.
