Mrs. Julia Wright Obituary

Mrs. Julia Pierce Wright was born October 15, 1917 to the late Edmond and Ollie Samuels Pierce in Oconee, GA. Known to her family as “MaJulia”, Mrs. Wright departed this life on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Serenity Hospice of Dublin, GA. Mrs. Wright was ninety-seven years old.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Wright were held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Buckeye Baptist Church in East Dublin, Georgia at 12 Noon with Rev. David Flowers officiating.  Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Church cemetery in Johnson County.  

 

On January 3, 1936, Julia was joined in holy matrimony to the late Leroy Wright, her devoted husband of sixty-eight years. To this union, they were blessed with nine children. Mrs. Wright was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren, homemaker, nanny, and faithful friend to all others that came into her life. To those that knew her, she spent the majority of her time in the kitchen cooking and sitting at the table reminiscing about the past. At an early age, Julia attended Samuel Grove Baptist Church of Sandersville, GA, and later joined Mt. Pleasant A.M.E Church of Wrightsville, GA where she was a faithful member until a decline in health.

 

She was preceded in death by her sons Bennie Wright and Roy Lee Wright; daughter Lucille Hicks; brothers; Bennie  (Alberta) Pierce; David(Lillie Ruth) Pierce; D.K.(Corean) Pierce; Sammy Pierce; Theodore(Mary) Pierce and Robert Pierce; sisters Dora(William) Carter; Lonnie Mae(Prince) Walker; Eula Mae(Rudolph) Smith; Addie(Doc) Merrell, Elisa Pierce and Annie Mae(Sam) Dennis; sister-in-laws Geneva(Roger) Dixon, Detta Pierce, Hattie Wright; brother-in-laws Charles Wright and Sam(Rose Eva) Wright; granddaughters Lisa Michelle Wright and Sheila Hicks; grandson Phillip Pullen; daughter-in-laws Faye Wright and Ilver V. Wright; and a devoted aunt, Lonnie Mae Poole.

 

Mrs. Wright leaves to cherish her memories two daughters Jeanette Thomas and Julia(Charlie) Robinson of Wrightsville, GA; sons Sam(Retha) Wright of Dublin, GA, James Wright of Wrightsville, GA, Jimmie(Betty) Wright of Locust Grove, GA, William(Brenda) Wright of Lexington, KY; daughter-in-law Bernice Wright of Lexington, KY; son-in-law Lee Hicks, Sr. of Chicago, IL;  brothers Kaiser(Carol) Pierce of Tampa, FL, Leroy Pierce of Sandersville, GA; sister-in-law Mary Lizzie Wright of Sandersville, GA; brother-in-laws George(Audrey) Wright and Willie Wright of Sandersville, GA; devoted granddaughter and caretaker Joann Thomas of Wrightsville, GA; twenty-eight grandchildren, forty-nine great-grandchildren, twenty-nine great-great grandchildren, and two great-great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
