Mrs. Arebetha Carswell ascended to her heavenly home on May 14, 2015 from Emory University Hospital Midtown in Atlanta, Georgia. Funeral services held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Deepstep, Georgia with Rev. Bobby Warren officiating. Interment in the Rest Haven Cemetery.
She thoroughly enriched the lives of her parents as she was the firstborn to Lillie Mae Danzy and Ralph Perry on February 10, 1924.
Arebetha experienced and enhanced life in Deepstep, Georgia where she was educated at the California Junior High School in Washington County, Georgia. She was an early and eternal member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church evolving as Mother of The Church. She labored with love at the defunct T.J. Elder Elementary School until retirement in 1987.
She enjoyed a happy marriage of sixty-six years with her devoted husband, Deacon Eddie Lee Carswell, Sr., who preceded her in transitioning. This union amassed eleven children: Beverly Brown (Willie), Ronald Carswell (Walter Jean), Gwendolyn Murray (Frederick), Eddie L. Carswell, Jr. (Jennifer), Brenda Bell (Donald), Kenneth Carswell (Gwendolyn), Sandra Conyers (Lester), Donny A. Carswell (Lazette), Jeffrey Carswell (preceded her in transitioning), Gail Wellman (Hawley), and Karen Carswell.
This union extended love beyond their eleven children to include a surviving endearing sister, Jacqueline Roberson, two special adopted daughters, Ethelean Dixon and Claudia Moore and an honorary brother-in-law, Deacon William Jackson.
Her legacy of all-encompassing love extends five generations with forty grandchildren, fifty-seven greatgrandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Arebetha’s passions for uplifting, encouraging, and epitomizing unconditional love are the hallmarks demonstrated wholeheartedly to family, friends, neighbors, and anyone who she encountered. She is entrusting that her legacy will continue to exhibit godly love to one another throughout all generations.
NOTE: Family visitation/wake is Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. The body will lie in state on Thursday from 12 noon until hour of service at the church. There is no viewing after the eulogy.
