Lee Lewis Hicks, Sr.

Mr. Lee Lewis Hicks Sr. passed away on May 4, 2023, in Glenview, IL.  Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the Buckeye Baptist Church, East Dublin, at 1 p.m.  

He was born to the late Abe Hicks Sr. and late Eva Carswell Hicks on May 10, 1942, in Wrightsville, GA. Mr. Hicks Sr. was known for his storytelling and ability to make others laugh. He enjoyed taking long walks, listening to gospel music, and home-cooked meals. He ran in over 10 Chicago Marathons and lived a very active life. Toward the end of his life, he spent his days surrounded by the love of his family.

Mr. Hicks Sr. is preceded in death by his loving wife Lucille Hicks, daughter Sheila Hicks, father Abe Hicks Sr., mother Eva Carswell Hicks; brothers Abe Hicks Jr. and Lee Wesley Hicks; and sisters Aileen Darrisaw, Essie Mae Warthen, and Lessie Mae Hicks.

Mr. Hicks Sr. leaves behind to cherish his memories a daughter, Tanya Marie Hicks; son, Lee Lewis Hicks Jr.; and granddaughter, Tanea Marie Crawford, all from Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Hicks Sr. also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.  The body will lie in state at the church from 12 noon until time of service.
