Ernest Lee Wimbley, Jr.

Mr. Ernest Lee Wimbley, Jr., (Hawkeye) was born on November 27, 1966 in Augusta, Georgia, the oldest child of the late Ernest L. Wimbley, Sr. and Mrs. Mattlyn R. Wimbley.  He was called from labor to reward on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Washington County Memorial Hospital.   Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 1 p.m . at the Rest Haven Memorial Garden.  Rev. Jackie Crockett will officiate.  

He was preceded in death by a brother Anthony Lakeith Wimbley.

Earnest joined Friendship Baptist Church in Milledgeville, Georgia at an early age.  He graduated from Washington County High School with the class of 1984.  Ernest joined the U.S. Army in 1984.  He was employed  by Howard Sheppard for many years.  He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

His memories will be forever cherished by his mother, Mattlyn Wimbley of Tennille, Georgia; one son, Quantavious (Kodi) Wimbley of Tennille, Georgia; one sister, Faye Dixon of Sandersville, Georgia; one adopted brother, Steve (Cynthia) Williams of Milledgeville, Georgia; three grandchildren; grandmother, Elouise Burney of Tennille, Georgia;  one devoted niece, Kierra Butts; seven aunts:  Louise (Matthew) Roberson, Mary Renfroe, Janice Anderson, Peggy Purdy, Mamie Lou (Harold) Hicks, Mammie Lee Scott, Mary (Rick) Wiley; three uncles:  Roger Wimbley, Sr., Willie Wimbley, and Michael Renfroe; one devoted cousin, Regina Davis; a special friend, Harry Glover of Jacksonville, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family will receive other family and friends on Friday, March 4, 2022 in the chapel of L.M. Pierce Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
