Ms. Dorothy Reeves, affectionately known as "Dot" transitioned from this life on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at her residence. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 12 noon at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Warthen, Georgia with Rev. Cornelius Gibbons officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church cemetery.
Ms. Dorothy Reeves was born April 4, 1948 in Washington County. Her parents are the late Robert William Reeves and Mattie Pearl Womble-Reeves.
Dorothy graduated from T.J. Elder High School, Sandersville, GA in 1967. She then finished a Business Course from the Nassan County Vocation Institute in New Hyde Park, NY from 1968-1970. Ms. Dorothy Reeves worked for AMS Brokage as a rater and typist from 1970-1974. She also worked for Travelers Insurance Company as an underwriting assistant and later Account Processor in Garden City, NY and Atlanta, GA from June 1974 to October 1992. She also worked over 13 years with the Sandersville Police Department from July 1993 to November 2005 as radio communications, as a Record Clerk and final position as Municipal Court Clerk.
Dorothy Reeves was preceded in death by three brothers: Johnnie Lee Reeves, Warren Lee Reeves, and C.B. Reeves, Sr.; four brothers-in-law: O.C. Hunt, Sr., William Hilson, Henry Butts, and Dred Swint; two sisters: Mrs. Mattie Kate Reeves-Swint and Mrs. Pinkie Lou Reeves-Hunt; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Lessie Reeves.
Ms. Dorothy Reeves leaves cherished memories to her son, Jermel Redd; three sisters: Mrs. Ola Pearl Reeves-Hilson, Mrs. Louise Y. Reeves-Butts, and Mrs. Rosa Rogers, a host of nieces and nephews.
Ms. Dorothy Reeves enjoyed reading the Bible. She visited with many churches in Washington County. Her home church as a child was the family church, Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Warthen, Georgia. Dorothy Reeves enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She asks that everyone seeks true salvation as the scripture says. Love one another while you’re here because tomorrow not promised.
