Mrs. Dessie Mae Underwood entered eternal rest on Saturday, December 25, 2021 in Savannah, Georgia. Graveside service will be held on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Minister Lillie Burnett will officiate.
She was born December 24, 1955 in Washington County, Tennille, Georgia to the late Paul Asberry and Lestil Burnett Asberry.
Dessie attended the public schools of Washington County. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her biological children, Dessie took in and cared for many others.
Preceding her in death was her brother Willie James Burnett.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Ulysses Underwood; children: Christopher (Serria) May, Queena Burnett, Ulysses (Faye Burden) Underwood Jr., Shedreka Underwood, Erica (Troy) Jenkins and a devoted son Tommy Davis; 21 grandchildren: Chrishonda, De’Tavion, Christavious, Keon, Christopher Jr., Christiona, Christian, DeQuivious, Dewane, U’lexia, Demarion, Alaya, Anasta’jha, DeAsia, Melay’jah, Alexia, Troy’Quez, Jasmine, Rocheme, Troy’von, Kewon; 5 great grandchildren: Kaiden, Tyerion, Nylan, Carmyn, Legacy; siblings: Linda (Steve) Whitaker, Sandra (Phillip) Duty, Shirley Roberson, Vincent Wiley, Sandra Taylor; sister-in-law: Betty Burnett; close friends: Lillie Burnett and Tim Burnett; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
