Mr. William Henry Poole departed this life at the NYU Winthrop Hospital in Mineola, New York. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the Clara-Minnie Memorial Chapel of L.M. Pierce Funeral Home with interment in the Brownwood Cemetery. Elder Jessie Mountain will officiate. He was born on March 9, 1936 in Sandersville, Georgia to the late Leroy and Eva Mae Poole. He was the fourth of nine children. William, known as "Willie", "Mr. Poole", or "Bud" attended Sandersville Public School System of Georgia. He migrated to Great Neck, New York where he pursued his career as a chef and was employed at the "Scobees Diner" (Little Neck, New York), "Nelson's" (Great Neck, New York), and "Skyline Diner" (Manhasset, New York). Willie was known for wearing his brim hats, 2- and 3- piece suits, telling jokes, playing pool, and listening to his oldies, but goodies music. Willie loved eating sweet potato pies. He couldn't wait for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years to receive them. William was preceded in death by one of his sons, he leaves to cherish his memory; two sons, Jerry Anthony Poole and another son; three daughters, LaKisha Maria Baun Poole and two other daughters; two brothers preceded him in death, Leroy and Lenzy Poole; four brothers, Benny Poole (Grace), Innis Poole (wife deceased), Tommy Poole (Fleeta) and Johnny Poole; two sisters, Emma Poole (husband deceased), Eloise Curtis-Velez (Ramon); and a host of grandchildren, a great granddaughter, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
