Roger Pierce

Mr. Roger Pierce of Tennille, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the Shamrock Nursing Facility in Dublin, Georgia.  Graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. from New Gardner C.O.G.I.C. cemetery in Oconee, Georgia.

He was born on May 5, 1947, in Washington County, Georgia. He was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Theodore and Mary Lee Pierce, Sr. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Mr. Theodore Pierce, Jr. , Mr. Edward Pierce, and Mr. Herman Pierce, and one sister, Mrs. Lucille Wood.

Roger worked 32 ½  years at Engelhard Corporation, later named BASF until he retired on September 1, 2011.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife, Mrs. Willean Murray Pierce; four sons, Roger(Kim Cannon)Pierce, Jr., Jeffery Pierce, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,  Jerome(Emon Bell) Pierce, Tennille, GA and Stanley Murray, Columbia, SC; one daughter, Tanya Pierce (Ernest) Freeman, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two sisters: Mrs. Daisy(late Nash)Walker, Tennille, GA and Mrs. Edie(Sam)Swint, Hamden, Connecticut; three brothers: Mr. Ernest(JoAnn) Pierce, Sandersville, GA, Mr. Frank (Addie) Pierce, Milledgeville, GA, and Mr. William(Mary) Pierce, Tennille, GA; Four Brother-in-laws; Alton(Valeria) Murray, Calvin Murray, Leonard Murray, Yemassee, South Carolina, James (Althea) Murray, Charleston, South Carolina, one sister-in-law, Gloria(Bernard) Cooper, Columbia, South Carolina, Eleven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, September 30, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with family receiving  friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
