Mother Daisy Mae Walker

Mrs. Daisy Mae Walker, age 100, of Oconee, Georgia departed this life on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Washington County Regional Medical Center.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at New Gardner Church of God in Christ, 450 Gardner Church Road, Oconee, Georgia at 12 noon with Elder Nathaniel Jordan officiating.  Interment will be in New Gardner Church of God in Christ cemetery.

Ms. Walker was born September 18, 1924 in Washington County, Georgia. She was born to the parents of the late Theodore Pierce and Mary L. Smith Pierce. She was married to the late Elder May Nash Walker on August 25, 1940. They were blessed with 15 children.

She gave her life to God at an early age; she joined Gardeners Church of God in Christ where she served faithfully. She attended school in Oconee, Georgia where she completed eighth grade.  She was a pillar for the community, and she enjoyed cooking for others. She enjoyed caring for others. She worked at the local nursing home for many years.

Mother Walker was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 5 children, and 5 siblings.

She leaves to mourn 10 children: Vernice Lane of Tennille, Georgia; Evelyn Walker of Idlewild, Michigan; Ethel Stephens (Nolan) of Milledgeville, Georgia; Lamar Walker, Nathanel Walker of Tennille, Georgia; Rochelle Bonner, Robert Walker, Mary Francis all of Macon, Georgia; Benjamin Walker of Oakhill, Florida; and Dewayne Walker of Gryphon, Georgia. One sister, Edith Swin t(Sam) of Hamden, Connecticut; three brothers, William Pierce (Mary Alice) of Tennille, Georgia; Earnest Pierce (Joann) of Sandersville, Georgia; Frank Pierce (Addie) of Milledgeville, Georgia. Brother in life, Jerry of Toledo, Ohio; a  host of grand, great grand and other relatives and friends.
