James E. Heggs of Sandersville, Georgia departed this life on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Washington County Regional Medical Center. Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 1 p.m. in Clara-Minnie Memorial Chapel of L.M. Pierce Funeral Home.
James Edward Heggs was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 28, 1946 to the parents of the late Edward Heggs and Inez Vivian Heggs. He attended private and public schools in New York. He is a high school graduate from George Westinghouse High School in New York. James worked as a United State Postal Truck Driver for 33 years until his retirement. After retirement, James came to live in Georgia to be closer to his parents and siblings.
James had a great passion for riding motorcycles; in which he became a part of a motorcycle club. This is how he got the nickname “Ham and Eggs”. He was also a great fan of the Georgia Bulldogs College football team. James was a kind and gentle person; he loved people and people loved him.
James was preceded in death by his parents: Edward Heggs and Inez Vivian Heggs; siblings: Kenneth E. Heggs, Lloyd J. Heggs, Ronald Q. Heggs, Diane E. Heggs and Charles M. Heggs.
James leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Vanessa Heggs; his sister, Sharon Heggs Gilbert; his brother, Donald Mitchell; his children: Cynthia (Dewayne) Burrus, James Edward Heggs, Jr., Vivian Inez Hines-Brown, James R. Heggs, Adrienne Heggs-Jeudi, Janet (Hellar) Severe, Jason Heggs, James Edward Heggs III; 5 step-children, 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.
