Mrs. Gennell Merrell

On Monday morning, December 16, 2019, Mrs. Gennell Merrell was called home by our heavenly father at Oconee Health and Rehabilitationi Center in Oconee, Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Oconee, Georgia. Rev. Allen Davis will officiate. She was born November 29,1936 in Washington County to the late Obie Thomas Sr. and Rose White Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Merrell, Sr., one daughter Annett Salvador, two sons - Edward Merrell, Jr. and Ronnie Merrell, Sr.; three grandchildren - Joel Merrell, Vincent Hall and Lawanda Moore; one sister - Susie Thomas; in-laws: William and Addie Merrell. Mrs. Merrell worked several years for Dade County School System before moving back to Georgia. She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Gary Merrell of Sandersville, GA; two daughters - Shanella Merrell of Dublin, GA and Abigail Merrell (Cornelius) Pinkston of Sparta, GA; eight sisters: Rosie L. Newsome, Louise Smith, Bernice Thomas, Doris Turk, Marguerite Etheridge, Barbara Thomas, Florence Thomas and Felisha Thomas; three brothers: Obie Thomas, Jr., Nathaniel Thomas, and Roosevelt Thomas, Sr.; four sisters-in-law: Jessie Davis, Willie Ruth Merrell, Ella Mae Merrell and Dorothy Merrell; 29 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, others relatives and friends.
