Elouise Burney

Ms. Elouise Burney of Tennille, Georgia transitioned peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the age of 99.  Funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the New Tennille AME Church, 307 West Church Street, Tennille, Georgia.  Internment will be in Rest Have Memorial Cemetery.

Born on July 7, 1924, in Dublin, Georgia, she spent the majority of her life in Tennille, GA. She was a dedicated and loving wife to her late husband Lamont Burney, and a devoted mother to her children Alton Renfroe (deceased), Juanita Renfroe (deceased), Louise Robinson (Matthew), Charlie Renfroe (deceased), Mattlyn Wimbley (Richard-deceased), Michael Renfroe, Mary Renfroe, Janice Anderson, and Peggy Purdy (Benjamin-deceased).

Elouise lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. She had a passion for fishing, cooking, and traveling. She’s known to cook a mean pot of greens for family gatherings. She also had a green thumb and loved tending to the garden and flowers. You had to watch her around your plants because she would take “just a small piece.” She enjoyed reading books and solving crossword puzzles in her free time.

Elouise was a kind and generous soul, always putting others’ needs before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her infectious smile and warm personality.

She is survived by Alton Renfroe (deceased), Juanita Renfroe (deceased), Louise Robinson (Matthew), Charlie Renfroe (deceased), Mattlyn Wimbley(Richard-deceased), Michael Renfroe, Mary Renfroe, Janice Anderson, and Peggy Purdue (Benjamin-deceased).  Eighteen grandchildren, and a host of great & great-great-grandchildren, who will miss her dearly.

Rest in peace, dear mother. You will forever be in our hearts and memories.
