Elder Floyd Walker, affectionately known as King, Pop, PaPa, and Granddaddy, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Macon, Georgia.  Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025 at 12 noon at New Birth Christian Ministries, 409 Zeta Street, Tennille, Georgia with interment in The Walker Family Cemetery.

Floyd was born on September 22, 1950, to the late Prince Sr. and Lonnie Mae Walker. He received his formal education in the Washington County Public School System and graduated from T.J. Elder Comprehensive High School, Class of 1969.

Professionally, Floyd was employed by Engelhard (BASF) and later retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation, where he worked as a Maintenance Equipment Operator.

A true sports enthusiast, Floyd was a devoted fan of LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. He had a passion for gospel music and served as the lead singer of the renowned gospel group The Gospel Explorers, famously known for the song "Have You Heard the News?" He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, attending church, and staying up to date with the latest in sports.

Floyd accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Dixon Grove Church of God in Christ. He was ordained as a deacon on January 16, 2011, and later preached his trial sermon on October 27, 2012. He went on to graduate from the Charles G. Mason Theological Institute and was ordained as an Elder on August 19, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Prince Sr. and Lonnie Mae Walker; brother, Joseph Walker; sister, Lillie P. Lockett; and  son, Derek R. Walker.

Floyd leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Jacquelyn S. Walker; two sons: Frederick Marqui (Nekia) Walker Sr. and Rodney Kristophus (Sheila) Walker, both of Tennille, GA; grandchildren: Kanesha, Sharonda, Felexia, Rodney, James, Faithia, Frederick, Jairus, Shakara, Takara, Brandon, and Ramoni; great-grandchildren: Kaiden and Khristian; sister, Eveline (Willie) Darrisaw; brother, Prince Jr. (Daisy) Walker; uncle, Jerry Omar; brothers-in-laws: Ronald Raye, Jefferson Lockett, Sr. and Huttie (Mary) Swint Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
