Dexter Forney, Sr.

When the journey became too heavy and the hills too steep to climb, God gently took him by the hand and welcomed him to his heavenly home. He transitioned from this life on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Select Specialty Hospital in Augusta, GA. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Warthen, Georgia with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. John Kitchens will officiate.

Mr. Dexter Ellis Forney, Sr. better known as Duck, was born on September 12, 1965 to the parentage of Mrs. Eloise Kitchens and Mr. Emmett Forney.

He attended the public schools of Washington County, GA. After graduation he joined the United States Army. Duck continued his career at Sandersville Railroad until his tragic accident. He was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Warthen, GA.

On December 22, 1987 he married his childhood sweetheart, Mrs. Pamela Forney. They were married for 38 years.

Duck was passionate about cooking for his family and friends. The kitchen was his special place, where he created not just meals, but memories that will last forever. He also enjoyed fishing and cheering on his two favorite football teams (San Francisco 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers).

Duck was preceded in death by his mother Mrs. Eloise (Alton) Kitchens, Jr., father Mr. Emmett Forney, and grandmother Mrs. Annie Laura Jackson Miller.

He will always be loved, honored, and remembered by his caring wife: Pamela Forney, Warthen, GA; daughter: Angel Forney, Sandersville, GA; two sons: Dexter Forney, Jr., Warthen, GA and Wayne (Tamika) Davis, Sandersville, GA; seven grandchildren: Amya Tobler, Aiden Jones, Aubrey Jones, Khalani Forney, Honesti Forney, Savannah Davis and Kaliyah Davis; two brothers: Mr. Terry Kitchens, Augusta, GA and Jeffery Miller, Warthen, GA; four sisters: Mrs. Angie (Tarvis) Devero, Warrenton, Ga, Mrs. Sherry (Edward) Lowe, Warrenton, GA, Mrs. Barbara (Joe) Hill, Sparta, GA, and Mrs. Betty (David) Walker, Sparta, GA; two uncles Mr. Charlie Forney, Milledgeville, GA and his devoted and loving uncle Mr. Frank (Edna) Forney, Milledgeville, GA; four aunts: Ms. Elmorris Haynes, Sandersville, GA, Mrs. Jessie Hawkins, Mrs. Mamie Edwards, Mrs. Emma Moore, and Mrs. Jacqualine Forney of Milledgeville, GA; three brother in laws: Mr. Leroy Andrews, Jr., Sandersville, GA, Mr. Darrell Andrews, Plymouth, NC, and Mr. Johnny Andrews, Plymouth, NC; two sister in laws: Ms. Ella Wadley, Tennille, GA and Mrs. Beverly (Graylon) Cummings, Warthen, GA; devoted cousin: Lewis Kitchens; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
