Mrs. Betty Ann Evans Walker, affectionately known as "Champ" departed this life on Friday, March 7, 2025 at the Washington County Regional Medical Center.  Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 12 noon in the Clara-Minnie Memorial Chapel of L.M. Pierce Funeral Home with interment in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.  Rev. Calvin Hatcher will officiate.

She was the youngest of five children born on  July 5, 1960 to the parentage of the late Mr. Walter Evans and Mrs. Annie Laura Evans.  At a young age, she became a member at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Warthen, Georgia.  Betty Ann was an honor graduate of Washington County High School, Class of 1978.   Shortly after graduation, she attended Paine College in Augusta, Georgia and graduated with a degree in Chemistry.  She was a  beloved teacher in Washington  County.  Betty held various jobs in the Washington and Baldwin Counties to include the Department of Corrections and the Baldwin Youth Development Center from which she retired.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Annie Laura Evans; two sons:  “Scooter” Broderick Walker and “Every Ready Shady” Daiquan Walker; two brothers:  J.D. Duggans and Lee Otis Evans.

Champ had a love for children and doing crossword puzzles that no one could touch.  Betty Ann left to cherish her memories two sons:  David Glenn Walker, Jr. (Latrina) of Milledgeville, GA and Brandon McDonald of Augusta, GA; brother:  Aaron Evans (Georgia); sisters:  Mary Helen Dawson (Wilmer), Susie Herrons and Gwendolyn Bryant (Tony); seven grandchildren:  De’Aveion Walker, Gavin Walker, Braidyn McDonald, Brycen McDonald, Laila McDonald, Averie Walker and Aubree Rice; daughter-in-law:  Cherelle Walker; aunts:  Bobbie Evans and Katie Evans; adopted sisters:  Gladys Barden and Gladine Thompson; adopted brother:  Willie Roger Dixon; devoted cousins:  Vincent (Sheila) Duggans, Miller Peacock, Albert (Bonnie) Reynolds of New York, Brenda Anthony of Lincoln, Delaware and Derrick Parker of Florida;  devoted nephews:  Marcus Dewitt Evans (Tasha), Nichole Cooper and Nicholas Johnson; several other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including a devoted neighbor Jean Arlie Hall and family.
